We made it...

...to San Francisco and back. The trip was mostly fun and only slightly stressful, though in my opinion we didn't get to see nearly enough of what I would consider the "big" version of Seattle (with less tattoos and more homeless people, it seems.)

The show was cool (I always love to see people singing along and the gussied-up girls trying to get as close to the stage as possible) and there definitely seems to be a younger Turkish crowd there than I've seen so far in Seattle. They even had raki available at the bar - a very nice touch, but I may never drink the stuff again.

All in all, we did get to visit Chinatown, the Fisherman's Wharf and historic piers, Ghiradelli Square, Haight/Ashbury and I brought home some cute little souvenirs for me, the Madre and my best homegirls without making myself broke for the last 2 weeks of the month. The weather was mostly cooperative, I had a great time taking photos of graffiti and I swear I'll visit the Tonga Room when I go back.

So...if you were going to be there for ELEVEN HOURS ONLY for instance, what would you be certain not to miss, and what would you be certain to skip?

11 hours???

Okay, IMO the Wharf is soooo similar to the Seattle waterfront and the best part is the view...It might be a better bet to spend $15 and take an hour long(+) boat tour of the bay to save time and get to see all the landmarks.

If you do end up on Haight/Ashbury (quaintly called "the stoner/homeless armpit" by a Seattle friend who LOVES SF) and you have yer dude you'll score BIG points by taking him to Amoeba Music, though I'm sure he could waste hours there so you've been warned. ;) Otherwise, it's just like Broadway but bigger.

If I had total control over our time there, I definitely would have checked out the Tonga Room for a drink. It was recommended by so many people I kick myself for missing it.

Ghiradelli Square was pretty neat too, though more $$$ than I care for...

Hope I've been some help!

I'm glad you made it! Did you end up checking out Tunnel Top?

NO! It was literally across the street and everyone except myself and the bf managed to find their way over there - the tales of awesome continued and so does my desire to visit.
