Shameless Plug MONDAY: maSKott's Tuval album release!

Monday, May 10, 2010
Okay, right, I haven't been incredibly consistent with my Shameless Plug Sundays (and I still owe you part 2 of "No Touching") as well as this post not being entirely shameless considering I'm totally, ridiculously in love with one of the members of maSKott...

BUT I have been itching for the chance to finally be able to tell you that their album has been released as of today*** (though Monday in Turkey started about 10 hours earlier than ours here in Seattle, so admittedly I am a little late!) As far as I know, it's not available for international purchase just yet (trip to Istanbul, anyone?) and I am guarding my unofficial copy like a rabid dog, but if I haven't played it for you in my car you can listen to the title track at their MySpace or Facebook and hopefully enjoy it as much as I have been the past few months.

Even though I may be biased, I can honestly say that Serkan and Koray are both incredibly talented artists and I know they put a lot of heart and soul into Tuval - it shows in the quality of the tracks. I'm so proud!

With any luck, I should be able to post a link to the new video for Nadas soon and for now can direct you to the new version of their website (http://www.maskottlive.com/), which should be live in a few days. A Seattle show later this summer (and an English/Turkish language blog!) is in the works, and rest assured you will have all the deets here as soon as they are finalized.

As for the effect this has on my "real" life - that's a whole 'nother post, y'all.
***(edit 5/11/10: release delayed to Thursday, because of barcoding issues[?])

I LOVE maSKott!! :)

I missed the Kargo shows when I was in Istanbul in May 2008 and was completely bummed out. Little did I know that Koray and Serkan would be breaking away and I would end up seeing them at DROM in NYC a year later.

I completely understand about guarding the copy like a rabid dog as I also have a friend who is in the Turkish music business and I guard my "freebies" the same way. LOL

Well, that is about it. Right now I am begging a friend in Istanbul to send me a copy of Tuval. If it is anything like what I heard so far...DAMN!!! I WANT THAT CD. LOL

Alison, the whole album is fantastic!

Honestly, Mum Gibi is my personal favorite track but I have a deep fondness for all of them, which is obvious to most of my friends as I have kept the CD in the player of my car for the past 3 months...I hope you get your hands on a copy soon!

Alison - Hi this is Ivy (hope you remember / from the fan site). I buy all my Turkish music albums from a seller on eBay (all certified original stuff). Of course it's a little overpriced and international shipping takes some time but still I think it's worth it. Also Tulumba will most probably sell it as well. I'll contact you with links as soon as I can.

btw - the album's release is delayed until Thursday

Alyson - Hi and I hope you don't mind me barge into the conversation.

Hi Ivy, please - barge away! I am obviously lacking a few key details that hopefully will help Alison get her hands on Tuval. Your input is appreciated. :)

Thanks ladies! :)

I usually go through Tulumba (they are VERY helpful), but this time I am going to wait to see if my best friend can get it. She wants to pay me back for the shipping of the books I just sent her for her master's thesis and I can't think of a better way. :) Come hell or high water...I will have that CD in my hands (I am still old school like that...I gotta look at the liner notes (keeping in mind I don't understand a damn thing LOL))...even if I have to go to Istanbul to get it!!!

Yes Ivy...of course I remember you. :) Are you going the show? If you are...I am so jealous (even if I already saw them...they played Kargo stuff (although I am not complaining either) and I want to hear the new music. Wait a sec...I thought you were in Turkey. I guess I was wrong. LOL

I watched Nadas...freakin' AWESOME!!!

BTW...is the song that they originally released the sample of still called "Tuval"? I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that song...the piano...the guitars...just a great mix (of course you already know that ;) ).

Ohhhh...and Alyson...I just want to say I hope you don't mind me commenting on your post. I was trying to find information out about the CD release this morning and your blog was the one of the first entries on Google to pop up. I was just happy to read something in English (apparently so happy it moved me enough to comment...which is not something I normally do). So please forgive me if I put my nose where it doesn't belong...but thanks for the info!!! :)

Alison, that track is still called Tuval unless they've edited the CD liner since I got a sneak peek, and I agree with you - it is a GREAT song. :)

Considering this is the most attention my blog has gotten in a while and that I have had virtually no contact with fans other than *my* close friends who have met these guys and listened to the album (most don't even know who Kargo is/was, if you can believe it,)I have to admit that I don't mind the comments at all. It's great to hear people are so enthusiastic about their music and I just wanted to do my part to support and share that here in the US.

The good news for everyone is that (as I mentioned) plans for a maSKott blog in English AND Turkish are in the works...This blog is definitely not intended to be the most up to date (or entirely accurate ;)) source of information about their "goings ons" and I think eventually it might bore the hell out of many of their fans.
